It’s National Nutrition Month: A month-long campaign during March focusing attention on the importance of making informed food choices, developing sound eating habits, and balancing habits with regular physical activity. This year’s theme is “Eat Right with Color” and encourages more color in the diet. Make 2011 a year to forget all of the fads: skip the low carb diet, the high protein diet, the no sugar diet, and any other fad. Instead, focus on a plant-based diet, including lean meats, fish and poultry, and low-fat milk and dairy products. Creating a rainbow of colors on the plate can serve as the foundation for a healthful eating plan. Results may vary by individual, consult your doctor today and see if this is right for you!
