Of the 38 total ingredients in a McDonalds Chicken Nugget, several of them are synthetic, such as tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), which is a petroleum derived chemical sprayed onto the nuggets and inside the box to keep them fresh. Fast food chicken goes through a process called mechanical separation, which basically jams everything, meat, bones, whatever, into a machine and it spits out a long tube of pink paste. Then, because it’s crawling with bacteria, it is washed in ammonia, and because it tastes gross it is artificially re-flavored, and because it is oddly pink it is dyed with artificial colors. I’ve chosen the Nuggets because they are a particular favorite to many, but this information can apply to most of the menu at McDonalds and mostly every other fast food restaurant. For example we know all deep fried foods are tremendously damaging to health, which is why French fries from anywhere are possibly the worst food one could eat. The problem with TBHQ is that a number of studies have shown high doses have precursors to stomach tumors and DNA damage in animals and that with prolonged exposure can be cancinogenic. Other tasty ingredients of the McNugget include hydrogenated vegetable oils (trans fats), sodium acid pyrophosphate, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate, and calcium lactate. So not much of the McNugget, or anything else on the fast food menu for that matter, is REAL food. Some of the causes surely to be encountered from eating fast food on a regular basis include, increased fat storage, raised blood pressure, increased bad (LDL) cholesterol, weakened immune system, clogged arteries, poor insulin control, and rollercoaster blood sugar levels, just to name a few. The world’s population is increasingly becoming obese and the contribution of fast food to this dilemma cannot be understated. Do not be fooled, although their products look appealing and tasty they are, in fact, hidden with a wealth of health hazards. So wise up and take control because to continue eating fast food is setting yourself up for an early grave. Avoid any kinds of convenient processed food and focus on cooking natural (unaltered from its original state) wholesome and nutrient rich food at home and reap the benefits of optimal health, increased energy, vitality, and freedom from acute illnesses.
