Ms. Schardt holds a masters degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in maternal child health care and a subspecialty in forensics. Ms. Schardt graduated from Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York with high honors in 1985 with an associate’s degree in the Applied Science of Nursing. She further studied at the State University of New York at New Paltz and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Science of Nursing in 1992. At that time, she also received the Nightingale Honors Society distinction and the National Collegiate Nursing Award. In 1998, Ms. Schardt received her Master’s Degree of Science in Nursing from The College of New Rochelle completing the Family Nurse Practitioner track. She was a National Health Service Corps Scholar and was accepted into the Sigma Theta Thau Honors Society.
The majority of Ms. Schardt’s career has been in public service in a variety of clinic settings. She relocated to SW Florida in the summer of 2000 to enter the field of forensics. Ms. Schardt has completed more than 4800 hours serving as a sexual assault forensic examiner for a local post sexual assault response team. Currently, she serves as an expert witness in the criminal cases where she had performed the initial forensic examination. In September of 2002, Ms. Schardt was accepted as a member into the American College of Forensic Examiners and has completed the highest level (level five) of examination as a Certified Medical Investigator.
