Anthony Balbontin - R.N., Paramedic, Personal Trainer - Anthony has extensive first hand experience with the problems associated with diabetes and other medical conditions caused by obesity. Unlike other trainers, Anthony has the necessary knowledge of the do’s and don’ts when training clients with special medical needs such as diabetes, hypertension, or physical aliments that can prevent a client from attaining a better quality of life. Diabetes, if not properly managed, can be a very dangerous disease. It can cause blindness, peripheral nerve damage, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, erectile dysfunction, skin problems, foot ulcers, and more. Being overweight, with a waist greater than 40 inches in men and 35 inches in women, compounds the risk for the above problems. A healthy diet and regular exercise has been proven to not only reduce weight, but also helps regulate blood glucose levels naturally. This allows most sufferers of diabetes to discontinue medications altogether. Check with your doctor before starting an exercise program to see what is right for you. At Tampa Rejuvenation, we understand diabetes. Our trainer, Anthony Balbontin, is a licensed registered nurse and certified paramedic. He has seen and treated the problems associated with diabetes first hand. Unlike other personal trainers, Anthony is experienced with what a person with diabetes should and should not do while exercising. For example, did you know you should not exercise if your blood sugar is less than 100mg/dl or greater than 300mg/dl? Also, when dressing for your training sessions you should wear cotton or hiking socks and well-fitting shoes to prevent foot ulcers. Before and after training sessions, Anthony monitors blood sugars, blood pressures, EKG’s if needed, and more. These are some of the exclusive services that we provide at Tampa Rejuvenation to ensure your safety while helping you reach your personal fitness goals. Call us for a free consultation. |
